8th grade wildcat families. As we approach the end of the school year, I wanted to share with you some information on wrapping up your student’s 8th grade year.
We will be streaming the 8th grade Virtual Promotion Ceremony on Wednesday, May 27th at 9 a.m. You will be able to obtain the link for this virtual ceremony by going to our school’s website or FB page on Wednesday morning. If you cannot watch it at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, no worries… we will keep it up for a few days.
The 8th grade End-of- Year Student check out is scheduled for Thursday, May 28th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot in front of our gym. This is the time where you will drive thru our parking lot to return any school items such as checked out devices, books, band instruments, and athletic uniforms. This will also be the time in which 8th graders can clean out their PE and band lockers. In addition to returning items, 8th graders will get the opportunity to see many of their teachers one last time while they are picking up their Promotion Certificates. If you purchased a yearbook or 8th grade tshirt, this is the time you will receive them. All athletes will get a small gift for their participation in athletics this school year and if your 8th grade won an athletic award, this is the time it will be distributed. Please be advised that we will follow all CDC guidelines and we ask that everyone remains in their cars at all times, unless given permission by staff member to go into locker room or band room to clean out lockers.
Lastly, some students will be invited to attend extended-school year (also known as ESY) this summer school to complete course recovery in order to be promoted to high school. Letters have been emailed out today to families of students who must attend ESY in order to go to high school next school year. We will need these letters emailed back to us by May 29th in order to reserve a spot in ESY.
Wildcat families, it has been an honor to have you and your student as member of our Weightman Wildcat family. I wish you all the best and as always, please contact myself or your student’s School Counselor, Mrs. Leonard, if you have any questions.
